JUNIOR OILERS ADD PAIR OF HOMETOWN PRODUCTS

Aug 30, 2024

The Tulsa Junior Oilers have signed two local products for their inaugural NA3HL season.

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud members of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, announced Saturday the signings of Austin Tyler and Ryan Humphries for the 2024-25 season.

Tyler, 18, was acquired over the summer in a trade with the St. Louis Junior Blues, bringing in NA3HL experience playing in 33 games, with three goals and 12 assists.

“You need a player like Austin that’s already done it,” said head coach Zac Desjardins. “He knows what junior hockey is like. He knows the travel, he knows the practice, he knows the intensity that you need to have. I think with [Austin] Tyler having that experience, it’s going to help us build a culture of strong character here, on and off the ice.”

Humphries, 18, begins his junior hockey career after spending last season with the Tulsa Junior Oilers high school program. In 16 games played, logging four goals and 12 assists.

“He’s got a lot of heart and drive,” Desjardins said. “I think he’s going to be a hard-working, dedicated player, and that’s what we’re looking for here in Tulsa.”

The Tulsa natives are the first officially announced player signings of the season.

Game action begins on Friday, Sept. 20 against the Austin Ice Bats. Puck drop from Ice & Field at The Crossover in Cedar Hills, Texas is set for 8 p.m. All games can be streamed on NATV.
