JUNIOR OILERS, SALVERSON BLANK YELLOWSTONE IN SHOWCASE OPENER
Four different scorers strike and Jack Salverson stops 21-of-21 shots in a 4-0 win over the Yellowstone Quake.
BLAINE, Minn. – The Tulsa Junior Oilers, proud member of the NA3HL and partner of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills and Ruffin Event Center, shutout the Yellowstone Quake on Sunday night.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening frame, as Yellowstone outshot Tulsa 7-4.
Brayden Hagemann fired a wrister past Matthew Neeser 13:35 into the second period, set up by Cooper Smolin, making it 1-0, for the lone goal of the middle frame.
Austin Tyler capitalized on the power-play 2:27 into the third period, set up by Willy Fischer, making it 2-0. Power-play success continued as Malachi Clark netted a rebound set up from Sam Harristhal and Reese Blasdell 5:38 into the period, making it 3-0. Miles Clark potted the third power-play goal of the game 17:57 into the final frame, rounding out the scoring, 4-0.
Jack Salverson stopped 21-of-21 shots, posting his first career shutout.
Tulsa will square off against the NA3HL Selects on Monday for the second game of the showcase. Puck drop from NSC Super Rink is set for 5 p.m. CST.
